Just days after a Nigerian man broke into the internet with pictures of his latest invention, a cooking pot that can separately cook two different foods simultaneously, President Muhammadu Buhari has encouraged Nigerians, especially those of the lower-class, to invest in this latest invention due to the recent outrageous hike in the price of cooking gas, which he insist isn’t the fault of his government.
The newly-invented metal pot which is demarcated at the middle, creating two partitions for different foods to be cooked separately but at the same time, has gained popularity after its picture recently appeared on the internet.
A source from Aso Rock who spoke with YeyeNews.com reporter revealed that the President is quite impressed with this new invention and that was why he came out to encourage Nigerians to buy this. “Buhari was quite impressed when he saw the picture of the pot,” the source said.
“He called his close associates and told them about the invention which he believed would help Nigerians cope with the current hike in the price of cooking gas. Buhari even reached out to the producer of the pot, commended him for his invention, and even patronized him by purchasing 50 extra-large pieces of the pot, and a customized one he intends on shipping to his wife, Aisha, in Dubai.”
The source also said Buhari wants Nigerians to stop complaining about the economy and instead follow the example of this man by seeking ways to be innovative, because the development of a country is a collective effort and shouldn’t be left to the government alone.
However, this new invention has been met with mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some see it as a great idea and are open to purchasing it, others do not, and have expressed their disapproval for this two-in-one pot. One commentator said “I reject every symptom of poverty” even though she had just stopped YeyeNews.com reporter to ask for help with transportation fare.
Another respondent who used to live in the UK spoke with YeyeNews.com and said: “So many of my friends see this as a poverty pot, but I disagree. What is poverty is not saving enough. With this pot one can save” She went on to laud the inventor of the pot and said that was the kind of idea developed countries like UK, America, Japan and European nations would encourage and appreciate.
