Customers in one the new generation banks in Nigeria where treated to a spectacular drama on Monday as two female staffers fought openly over a rich customer. One of the bank customers who witnessed the fight narrated to YeyeNews.com reporter how the ladies fought their way out of an office into the banking hall.
“It was a serious commotion as the two ladies accused themselves of ‘stealing’ a man. We later learned from one of the bank security staff that the man they were fighting over is a customer of the bank who is a Yahoo boy. We heard them shouting at themselves inside the office while their colleagues were trying to calm the situation but suddenly they dragged themselves out. They tore each others clothes as they rolled on the floor. It was such an embarrassing situation”, the source said.
Another source also expressed disappointment at the behavior of the ladies. “Its a shame they can stoop so low to engage in a public brawl over a man. A Yahoo boy for that matter. What is he giving them that they can’t afford with their salaries if they plan well? They have not only embarrassed themselves but also their employer. Shameful”.
The manager of the branch declined to comment saying that the matter has already been escalated to the management level. But a colleague of the ladies who did not want her name in print told YeyeNews.com that the two ladies where asked to go home while the bank investigate the matter. She said it is unlikely they will be sacked as the customer that they were both fighting over had intervened on their behalf.
“The customer they fought over is a big time Yahoo boy. He has a lot of money in the bank. He has already told the manager that if any of the ladies is sacked, he will withdraw all his money from the bank. It is not easy to let go that kind of customer, so its likely those involved in this mess will only be transferred to our branches in other cities”, the source said.
YeyeNews.com reporter gathered from other bank sources that one of the ladies actually convinced the customer to open an account in the bank when she was a marketer. The bank then gave a full employment to appreciate her effort in bringing in such big customer. But she observed that her colleague was getting too cozy with the customer whenever he was around. Everything came to head when she noticed the customer calling her colleague’s phone on Monday morning. Her uncontrolled outburst led to the fracas that eventually spilled to banking hall.
