Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami (SAN) was glimpsed shedding tears in his office after he was told that over 9000 lawyers have signed a petition demanding the remarking of his Law School examination scripts, a source told YeyeNews.com reporter.
According to the source, it seemed the AGF cried because he believed that with the caliber of lawyers that were signatories to the petition, it would be almost impossible for the Council on Legal Education not to act on it”, the source said. But when asked if the AGF has any reason to worry about the call to revisit his scripts, the source responded that he “doesn’t know but by the actions of the AGF so far it seems there are some ugly skeletons that he may not want to be unearthed”.
YeyeNews.com gathered from one of the lawyers who initiated the petition that their actions stemmed from independent investigations which shows some discrepancies in the AGF’s grades and the actual content of his examination scripts. “We want those observed discrepancies to be resolved. A man who has attained the apogee of the legal profession should not be giving us reasons to question his understanding of basic legal concepts. If our suspicions about his Law School examination is true, then he must be stripped of his membership of the bar”.
Meanwhile, YeyeNews.com has learned that the president is set to intervene in the matter to save his government from possible embarrassment that may follow if the AGF is found wanting. A whistleblower in the presidency revealed that the plan is to approach the Supreme Court to assume jurisdiction of the lower courts and make a ruling barring any access to the AGF’s examination scripts. “The president has already personally instructed the CJN to entertain the case without any hesitation. “You know the man has always been pliable to the executive branch”, the presidency source revealed.
