The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have given their promise to support the 2023 ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu after the two parties secretly reached a deal to conduct a “Biafraxit” referendum immediately after the election. A top official of the IPOB Directorate of State (DoS) confirmed the deal to YeyeNews.com.
“The entire negotiation took place in London. We have carefully examined the proposals and are convinced that accepting this deal is for the best interest of the Biafra struggle. Our supreme leader has given his blessings. We assure him of the votes of each and every of our seven million members in Nigeria, and those of their family members. That won’t be a problem for us to achieve. He just have to keep to his own end of the deal.”
There has been lots of intrigues as the various political parties make preparations for selecting their candidates for the 2023 elections. Alliances are been forged and deals sealed by political actors in hope of gaining advantage over their opponents. “This is the right time to lay the groundwork for fulfilling ambitions. A lot of alignment and realignment are going”, a political analysis Biodun Bucknor told YeyeNews.com. “Every politician is working even from their sick bed. Or do you think Bola Tinubu just went to rest in London? He went there because that place provided the perfect cover for closing some high stake deals”.
The leader of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), a support group for the Bola Tinubu presidential ambition, did not confirm or deny the report of the deal with IPOB when YeyeNews.com reporter asked him. He however clarified that “Politics is about interest. And whoever is in a position to further your interest is welcome. We are open to everybody.”
