Jigawa State governor’s son, Abdulraham Badaru, has tied the knot with his Snapchat sweetheart, Affiya Sadiq, after they both met on the social media site, YeyeNews.com can authoritatively report.
According to a source close to the couple, the relationship started after Abdulrahman commented on Affiya’s photo on Snapchat. “Who said social media relationship is a lie? It all started with Abdul going crazy after seeing her post on Snapchat. He replied with ‘cutie’ and that has led us to this wedding fatiha”, the source disclosed.
Within less than a week after the wedding, over 3 million Nigerian women have registered on Snapchat. According to data from the social media site analyzed by YeyeNews.com,, about 70%of the new Nigerian users are from northern part of the country.
This is coming six months after the political party of the groom’s father banned the use of Twitter in the country. Sources confirmed to YeyeNews.com that majority of those who supported the decision to ban Twitter are from northern Nigeria.
A serving NYSC member told our reporter that she was deprived love by the Twitter ban. “I lost the love of my life to this Twitter ban and now the son of that governor whose party banned it has found love in Snapchat. Ironic, right?” she said sobbing.
Some of the newly registered Snapchat users have already started spreading their photos aggressively on the app. One of the users who spoke to YeyeNews.com reporter said she registered with the hope of meeting the son of a politician. “Since they banned Twitter, it seems their children are more active here so I am here too so they can notice me. I hope to get lucky like Affiya”, she said.
