Eighteen months after the Malagasy President launched the countries Covid Organics (CVO), the WHO has approved the drug for treatment of the COVID-19 infection. A source in the World Health Organization told YeyeNews.com that the approval will be officially announced next week but it has already been communicated to the Malagasy authorities.
An officially of the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research confirmed the approval to YeyeNews.com reporter in an email message. “WHO has given the greenlight for this revolutionary treatment. We are now ramping up production of CVO in the Institute. President Rajoelina directed that the Covid Organics should be distributed to all our brother African countries without any cost”, the official wrote.
YeyeNews.com reporter spoke to an expert in community medicine Prof. Rufus Tanko who questioned the rationale behind the approval after an initial resistance by the WHO. “Since they have now realized the efficacy of the Madagascar potion, what are they going to say to the loved ones of those who have died an avoidable death? Though I still await further information on this approval but I believe this is simply a failure of leadership on their part.”
But an aide to the DG of WHO who pleaded anonymity clarified that the Organization only approved the CVO potion so that poor countries who might not afford the vaccines could have access to cheaper treatment options. “We are aware of the high cost of these vaccines. The big pharmaceutical companies are out to make huge profits. What can we do? They don’t care about the poor. And unfortunately the WHO cannot do anything about it as our hands are tied. So the best we can do for is to approve the CVO so that the poor can have a drink and maybe get cured in the process.”
