Special adviser to President Buhari has claimed that the prayers offered by the president in Mecca is putting confusion in the camp of the bandits rampaging the country. Femi Adesina made the comment during a sumptuous dinner with other presidential aides inside the Villa, a source revealed to YeyeNews.com.
“During a dinner after their return from Mecca, Femi Adesina claimed that the reported infighting among bandits is as a result of the fervent prayers of the president in Mecca. He said after the president’s prayers some bandits fought and killed themselves in Taraba and a bandit leader killed his counterpart in Katsina”, the source said.
The aide further revealed that other staff of the Villa no longer take Mr. Adesina’s statements seriously because of his endemic sycophantic nature. “I can assure you that all what he said were seen as an hilarious joke by most of us at the table. Some one even jokingly told him not to insert it in the next address by the president. I don’t understand why the president is allowing him bring so much embarrassment to the administration. Who does not know that those events he referenced happened before President Buhari went to Mecca?”, the said queried.
Another source added Femi Adesina “has become a butt of jokes to Nigerians”. But residents of some of the bandit ravaged areas interviewed by YeyeNews.com expressed surprise that an aide so close to the president could even entertain such a ridiculous notion of using prayers to fight insecurity in the area.
“People are being killed and abducted every day and someone is making ridiculous assertions after eating to his fill at the expense of taxpayers. What effect could any prayer be said to have had in a place were bandits now institute and enforce laws that govern the lives of residents? That is our reality. The government must show seriously in tackling the insecurity in a practical way. People are losing hope and submitting to the rules of the bandits. No prayer can reverse this, only real government action can”, a resident of Katsina told YeyeNews.com reporter.
