The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has said that traveling to eighty-two countries by the president is part of the achievements of the administration. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this during a press briefing in the State House Abuja.
“The achievements of this administration in the last six years is not something that can be denied even by our worst critics. President Buhari has traveled to over 82 countries. No president in the history of Nigeria has achieved that. Our target is for him to visit all the 195 UN member countries before 2023. That will definitely be an unprecedented accomplishment. No president in the world has done it”, Lai Mohammed stated.
The minister listed other achievements of the administration to include killing of Abubakar Shekau, closing of land borders and consolidating the status of Dangote as the richest man in Africa. “When President Buhari came to power Abubakar Shekau was alive, cheap food was being imported into Nigeria from neighboring countries and Dangote was just a local rich man. But President Buhari has changed all that through his visionary leadership. You will agree with me that our food prices are now high enough to make our farmers rich and that has also tremendously increased the wealth of Dangote. Shekau has been killed by a rival terrorist leader. It is President Buhari that created the enabling environment for all these to happen”.
Most Nigerians that spoke with YeyeNews.com reporter in reaction to the minister’s claims said they were not surprised by what the minister said. “Whatever Lai Mohammed say does not surprise people anymore. The minister is either living in a parallel universe or there is something more sinister going on inside his head. Whichever it is, I think he requires urgent evaluation”, a school teacher in Abuja said.
A trader in Wuse market told YeyeNews.com that the minister has been relegated to the ignoble role making outrageous claims. “If I were his family member I would have summoned a family meeting over his matter. He has definitely become an embarrassment, both to himself and to the nation”.
