Embarrassed by the content of Chief Bisi Akande’s book depicting him as a man without honour, President Muhammadu Buhari threatened to sack his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mr. Femi Adesina for failing to disclose the content of the book to him before he went to attend the launch in Lagos thereby subjecting him to public ridicule
Presidency sources told YeyeNews.com how a livid Buhari sent Mr. Adesina out of his office and then ordered his private secretary to start preparing the sack letter of the special assistant. “The president was very angry when he read from one of the newspaper’s cartoon sections that Bisi Akande alleged in the book that he reneged on a promise to make one Mr. Bola Tinubu his running mate in 2015. The president’s anger stemmed from the realisation that he was the chief launcher of a book that contained statements that disparaged his hard earned reputation as the mai gaskiya of northern Nigeria.
The source said further that Buhari believed that Adesina was in cahoots with his Yoruba brothers to soil his image. Adesina would have been sacked if not for the quick intervention of Mujahedeen Isa Pantami who assured the president that Adesina has proved his loyalty by staunchly defending the interests of the president and his people. The president finally rescinded his decision after Pantami reminded him of how Adesina advised his own people to leave their lands for Fulani herdsmen if they want to live”.
A close ally of Femi Adesina who pleaded anonymity revealed that Mr. Adesina is still in shock over the action of the president. “Femi cried because he never thought Mr. President could ever treat him that way. He was confident that he’s the apple of the president’s eyes because he was willing to even abuse his own father if he talked bad of Nigeria. This is a man that stopped attending a church because the pastor criticized the president’s policies. I tell you, the man is feeling deflated by what happened because he feels he given his undiluted loyalty to the president. He told me that if he had read that book, he would have written a caustic response to defend the president while thoroughly abusing Pa Akande and his Tinubu sponsors and supporters”, the source told YeyeNews.com reporter.
