The dreaded bandit leader Dan Karami who operates in the forests of Katsina and Zamfara states have declared his ambition to run for the Senate in the 2023 election. Dan Karami made the declaration while addressing commanders of his group at his thirty eight rooms mansion in Lambar Gabas in the Rukkudaya District of Zurmi Local Government Area, a source told YeyeNews.com.
“He told us that he wants to join the APC and contest for Senate in 2023. He believes the real bandits are the ones in the National Assembly collecting billions of naira without firing a single bullet. We are risking our lives to abduct people and at the end of the day the victims will be begging to pay hundred thousand for ransom. Some don’t even have money so they will just sit in our camp eating free food. But those politicians in Abuja and the state capitals don’t risk anything but what they collect in one month is multiple of what we get in a year. So Dan Karami has decided to join the political bandits”, the source narrator.
Residents of Zurmi Local Area confirmed the intention of the bandit leader to contest for the senatorial seat of the area to YeyeNews.com reporter. An official in the Emir’s place revealed that Dan Karami has come to declare his Senatorial ambition and seek the support of the Palace. “He came to inform the Palace out of courtesy because no one can actually stop him if he says that is what he wants. He controls everything around here. So unless he changes his mind before then or Allah calls him, be rest assured that Dan Karami will be representing the this District in the Senate in 2023.
An aide of the current Senator representing the Zamfara North Senatorial District who spoke to YeyeNews reporter said his principal has been very worried since he heard about the interest of the bandit leader in his seat. “We have been trying to reach him for negotiation. But so far Dan Karami has not accepted to sit with us. We just want to know what he wants. We are ready to give him whatever amount he demands to forego that ambition because we can’t afford to face him in an election”.
