The candidate of APC in the Anambra governorship election has sought the help of the deities in Okija Shrine to recover the money he allegedly gave to the Anambra State Deputy Governor Nkem Okeke, sources close to the distraught APC candidate told YeyeNews.com.
One of the sources said Andy Uba is very disappointed after spending so much in bribing top politicians to help influence the elections in his favor. “Andy Uba bought Nkem Okeke over to APC with $150,000. He then gave him another $300,000 to deliver his Local Government Area during the election. But Nkem Okeke could not even deliver his unit for the APC. Now Andy Uba has taken the matter to Okija shrine. He wants his money back”.
Another source familiar with the matter revealed that Nkem Okeke has vowed not to refund any money because he did his best to campaign for Andy Uba. He said “I tried my best. Andy Uba has too much baggages so it is difficult to convince Anambra people to vote for him. But we still managed to give him some votes but unfortunately they were not enough to make him win. What money does he want me to refund? Should I go and collect from the women and youths who we shared them to? Didn’t you see some women on TV rejecting our money? We will refund him the remaining change even though it is not much. Politics is a gamble. He lost this one. Let him prepare for another. You can not eat your cake and have it”, the source quoted the Deputy Governor as saying.
YeyeNews.com also gathered that the Minister of Labour Senator Chris Ngige has advised Nkem Okeke never to yield to yield to the APC candidate’s pressure to refund any campaign money. An aide to the Minister said Senator Ngige has assured the Deputy Governor that he has the protection of the president against any plan that Andy Uba may have to abduct him.
“We know that Andy Uba is an expert in abducting sitting governors but the Minister has gotten the assurance of the president that nothing will happen to Nkem Okeke. Without any presidential backing, Andy Uba is just an empty vessel. He should know that without those monies he is asking people to refund, he wouldn’t have gotten up to five thousand votes from the entire 21 Local Government Areas”, an aide of Senator Ngige said.
