The Founder of Blockchain Nigeria User Group (BNUG) Mr. Chimezie Chuta has said that food insecurity as well as banditry will persist until the government makes conscientious effort to encourage supply chain and distribution issues on cryptocurrency. He made this observation in Lagos while chatting with YeyeNews.com reporter.
He noted that food will be cheaper if government allows a viable but regulatory environment for trading crypto coins. “The youth of today isn’t lazy. They are simply the youth of today. You can’t expect them to use hoes and cutlasses in the farm. The hoes and cutlasses we used in the past got us nowhere. Since the government isn’t ready to be supportive, why not allow the new money economy to thrive?”
“In Igbo parlance we will say the government is behaving like a woman who is both poor and a witch. You can’t be an incapable government and then on the side prevent the youth from doing things that will help them raise fund for capital intensive mechanized agriculture. Yes, crypto can give that power.”
Chuta pointed out that the only things that are cheap in this country are talk and tax. “Everything has gone high. Young people are really struggling, and at the same time they remain the best in the world when it comes to cyber sphere. You say you want to invest in agriculture as a government. How many people can you really invest in? It is a popular saying that you rather teach me how to fish than hand me a fish. In this case, why not teach them in quote how to make huge profit and watch how food becomes cheap. Who told you that our youth doesn’t like farming? It is only when money is in their hands that we can elevate the then talk into diversifying our Economy.”
He also disclosed that in developed economies crypto and blockchain technologies have started gaining tractions in the agriculture and food indstries.
“But no nation diversified on an empty hand. Youths need to make the money first since government cannot provide adequate loans,” he concluded
