China’s incursion into Africa will turn out to be a blessing in disguise, says a university don, Prof. Sylvanus Ezeakaibeya. He made this known during the launching of a book, “The Dangers of China’s massive investment in Africa” by Michael Agwuncha at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos. Prof. Ezeakaibeya warned that Africa is surrounded by Islamic terrorists pushing down to the center from the East, the West, the South, and the North.
“China may not be interested in interfering in Africa the way the West was,” Ezeabaikeya said, “but when the chips are down when their investments are threatened, China will rise and fight the Islamists.”
The professor of Political Science at the University of Nigeria Nsukka warned that Boko Haram is pushing from West Africa, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb is pushing down from the North, Al-Shabaab is pushing from the West and the Islamic State in Mozambique. “We may soon thank God that China is in Africa,” he said. “They have an experience dealing with those Islamists.”
The Chief launcher, Obi Cubana, stated that China is good for business and that Africa should think positively about the relationship.
